Northern Philippines College for Maritime Science and Technology Successfully Holds Annual Student Sports Meet
In celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork, Northern Philippines College for Maritime Science and Technology held its annual Student Sports Meet on March 15, 2024, at the college grounds. The grand event attracted hundreds of students from various departments, with enthusiastic support from faculty members and parents.
The sports meet kicked off with an inspiring speech from the college president, Dr. Maria Santos, who emphasized the importance of physical activities in enhancing students’ physical and mental well-being, as well as fostering team spirit. Following the opening remarks, the teams made a vibrant entrance, showcasing their team mottos and banners, creating a lively atmosphere.
The event featured a wide range of individual and team competitions, including traditional events such as track and field, relay races, basketball, and soccer, as well as fun activities like tug-of-war and obstacle relay races. The competitions were intense, with participants demonstrating exceptional athletic skills and a strong spirit of determination.
During the day’s events, Samuel Chen claimed victory in the men’s 100-meter dash, while Anna Garcia showcased impressive shooting skills to win the basketball three-point contest. In the team events, the Engineering Department excelled in the relay race, highlighting their outstanding teamwork.
The sports meet concluded with an award ceremony, where winners received trophies and medals amidst cheers and applause from the audience. The successful event not only ignited students’ passion for sports but also strengthened inter-departmental camaraderie and cooperation.
