Northern Philippines College for Maritime Science and Technology (NPCMST) is excited to announce an educational tour designed to immerse students in the rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage of the Philippines. The tour, organized by the College’s Student Council in collaboration with the Department of History and Cultural Studies, is scheduled to take place from October 15 to October 21, 2024.
The tour will offer students a unique opportunity to experience learning outside the traditional classroom. The itinerary includes visits to prominent historical sites such as Intramuros in Manila, where students will explore the legacy of the Spanish colonial era, as well as excursions to the Banaue Rice Terraces and the majestic Taal Volcano, which highlight the country’s stunning natural beauty.
Dr. Maria Santos, the Dean of the Department of History and Cultural Studies, emphasized the educational value of the tour: “Our goal is to provide students with a deeper understanding of the Philippines’ diverse history and natural environment. By visiting these significant locations, we hope to foster a greater appreciation for our national heritage.”
In addition to site visits, the tour will feature interactive workshops and discussions led by local experts, including historians, environmentalists, and cultural practitioners. These sessions are designed to complement the students’ academic studies and offer them new insights into the subjects they have been learning about.
NPCMST is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. The tour will follow strict health and safety protocols, in line with the latest guidelines from the Philippine Department of Health. All participants will undergo health screenings and will be required to adhere to safety measures throughout the trip.
The educational tour is open to students from all departments, and NPCMST encourages all interested students to take advantage of this unique learning experience. Registration is open until September 25, 2024, and students can sign up through the College’s official website or at the Student Council office.
